This you see is the Place Massena, Nice. A fine example, in my opinion, as we have been able to rethink a public space until a few years ago very busy and chaotic, back to a common use for pedestrians, hid (bicycles), trams, street entertainment, markets (in time Christmas).
The main street, as you can see from the video below, was closed to traffic (except in some places, but only the crossing), the sidewalks were widened and built a very efficient network of trams (and it goes to a ' I always see a different horizon, or nearly so) and I would say attractive.
Even here, the dealers have complained initially, but now there's a lot more people on the streets. At the same time have been enhanced underground parking (very expensive actually) for those who will not or can not use public transport.
Overall, residents and tourists now have more opportunities to move and move better. Of course, you have invested a lot, there were hardships in the transition, but now everything has improved. Sustainable mobility for all ....
